Community Service
Helping Internationals LocallyOne way you can share Christ’s love with people from other lands is to become a “conversation partner” or a “friendship family” (which means to invite them for a meal or to an activity together) for an international student or family here in State College. Global Connections (GC)is an United Way funded secular agency which helps make such opportunities possible. Global Connections has many programs to build bridges across the town and gown gap. Stop in at the EFree office for an application form for the Conversation Partner or Friendship Family programs. EFree member Patty Smith - who coordinates GC’s “Speakers Program” – is happy to answer some general questions but does not coordinate the Friendship Family or Conversation Partner programs. Please consider participating – thank you!
Blood DriveEvery few months a Blood Drive is held at our church. This is an important way to practically help people in our community. A pint of blood can save up to three lives! Adopt a Road E-Free has adopted Martin Street as a road in our neighborhood to keep clean. Twice a year teams of people from our church go and pick up trash along this section of road. Polling PlaceOur building is used as a polling place for primaries and general elections. Many of our members are involved in community organizations such as Lion’s Club, A Woman’s Concern, Boy Scouts, Cub Scouts, coaching sports and other service in community things that are not church wide events. |
